Not a profound thought by any means, but does ‘niche’ normally rhyme with ‘itch’ in American English?
Well, I’ve heard it pronounced “nitch” and I’ve heard it pronounced nee-sh, and in the south I’ve heard it pronounced “nee-chee”.
So, depends on which part of America you’re talking about.
I’ve always heard it pronounced “nitch.” But I in no way feel that I am the authority on how to pronounce “niche.”
I’ve mainly heard nih-sh, but “nitch” sometimes too.
