Super zest is not my objective--perhaps it should be. As far as "getting it," I'm willing to be open minded. What are the benefits of the experiments to be (maybe) conducted at LHC?

I think it's a joke. I could be wrong, physicists are a weird bunch.

(Edited to add: I'm not totally thrilled with calling the LHC a bullshit experiment. “I don't really get it, ergo it must be worthless,” is kindof not super-zesty.)

It's really frustrating to me, as a physicist, to see this story taken as something that "the physicists"/"the theoretical physicists" are doing, collectively.

It is just these two guys who have gotten overly superstitious, just like the occasional scientist at every big collaboration in the last two centuries.

What these two physicists are proposing IS ridiculous. That's the only reason the media even bothered reporting this for the general public to hear about.

Please do not paint us all with the same brush. This story has provided the particle physicists in my research group a good giggle, and a facepalm because we know it's going to be used as a jumping off point to complain about how we're wasting money funding science these days or whatever.

I first heard of this through word of mouth, so I assumed that a metaphor had been mistranslated and the physicists were trying to balance an equation or whatever by assuming a particle came to the present from the future. but no..
