Perhaps because of the recent large patch download in preparation for the second WoW expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King (be still my beating heart!), I and my gaming buddy have been witnessing an unusually high number of glitches. Most of them are just annoying, but there have been a couple of rather fascinating ones.

My buddy is a “druid,” which is a shapeshifting magic-user strongly attuned to nature; he has several animal forms, including a cheetah form that can’t be used for combat but runs faster than any ordinary character on foot. The nice thing about this “travel form,” as it’s called, is that while it does not run as fast as a character mounted on a steed, a player can’t mount his steed during combat, but a druid can transform into “travel form” if it turns out he’s bitten off more than he can chew and needs to run for it.

However, what you can’t do is mount your steed while IN your travel form.

Usually. :)

Another kind of mount a player can “borrow” to travel from one city to another is a flying mount–for Horde characters, this is usually a giant bat (ew!) and for Alliance characters, this is usually a hippogriff. A player finds the Flight Master in any town or city and tells the Master where he wants to go, and then suddenly finds himself atop a fast-moving winged steed. As soon as the destination town or city is reached, the hippogriff vanishes and the player drops lightly to the ground. These mounts are for travelling from city to city ONLY. You can never, under any circumstances, remain mounted on one once you reach your destination city.

Except this one time! YEAH!!

Lovin’ the glitchez…

…on a side note! as part of the patch upgrade, players can now change their hair color, hairstyles and piercings at the local barber shop. Now, the below used to be true:

But now…thanks to the barbershop…you too CAN be a “Night Elf Mohawk!” :D

And lastly…pictured below is Aogail, about whom I have posted before. (You may notice she has also had a trip to the barbershop; she now much more strongly resembles her progenitor in terms of coloring and hairstyle.) Aogail is a paladin, a holy knight-errant. She is level 69, which til the new expansion comes out, is but one level away from being “maxed out.” She is awesome. She also is wearing the best, toughest, highest-level set of full metal plate armor that she has ever owned; just by existing upon her, it absorbs well over 50% of the damage of each and every attack launched against her by the denizens of evil all around her. She is what is known in the game as a “tank,” able to sustain endless amounts of crushing blows from a heavily offensive foe. In short, she is armored to the teeth.

However, as my boyfriend pointed out, the graphics for these games are clearly all designed by a bunch of horny teenaged boys.

Aogail, the holy knight-errant…stripper.

Oh well. :)

When my female NE warrior had a BP that used that graphic, I went and got a black undershirt and forced my guildleader to redesign our tabard into something that didn’t make my eyeballs want to crawl out of my head.

Can’t do anything about the thigh-high plate legguards, though. >_

Can’t say I’ve seen any fun glitches like that. Black Dragonflight just has incredible lag and restarts about twice a day.

Also, my male Tauren druid has similar clothing issues. I’m not sure why so many breastplates include bare midriff. I also recall the starting warlock outfit for orcs includes exposed chest and stomach on males and females… so they’re trying?

Proudmoore’s mostly just having lag. Pity, that would be awesome.

My lowbie rogue ended up in short shorts yesterday, I was not impressed! :)

I bet you’re all jealous! ok, probably not of the thigh-high legguards. :D

She’s level 69 you say? Doesn’t look like she’s armed to the teeth. If you want to show less skin, you could always throw a shirt on under the breastplate, by the way. ;)
Anyway, woo-hoo, Ironforge! What server do you play on?

Ha, she is now level 70! And stuck there til the expansion comes out (sigh). I play on Draka.

Ah, Breast Plate. Has a trope ever been more universal within its genre?
