The exclamation point makes it different from regular old chemistry and biology and stuff.  It does big things and involves gigantic levers.

I like that as we begin to theorize how the universe works at the smallest level we need to actually explain with REAL jargon how stuff in scifi happens.  It'll be fun to find out how actual interstellar ships work in the future (it'll totally happen, or at least it had damn well better)</description>
