Vatican: Excommunication for female priests

I’d be shocked and disgusted, if only I cared more about the Catholic church or even about the moral sensibilities of the people who want to be a part of it.

Catholic church says it’s following Christian tradition

You can’t argue with that.

The decree was published Thursday by Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, which in a headline called the ordination of women a “crime.”

‘Nuff said.

“Amato said the penalty can be lifted if those so punished are sincerely repentant.”

I’m trying to wrap my mind around that one — they’re trying to browbeat people into repenting their callings, evidently. Even within the twisted context of Catholicism, that makes no sense.

Oh well, at least they’ve made their priorities clear. Minister to your parishioners, and they excommunicate you. Rape children, and they cover your tracks while moving you to a new supply of children to rape, while letting you keep your status as a Catholic and a priest.

And people wonder why I left.

The Vatican says women can’t be priests because they don’t image Christ. But if Christ was God, and we are all made in God’s image, I would say women image Christ as much as men do.

Apparently the most important part of Christ was his penis.

My mother was a lay-priest. A lot of denominations have had female priests for decades. All the US Catholics I know support women priests. It really is just the Vatican (and a load of other leaders of large groups) being dipshits.
