I was 'bored' but 'bored' in the same way that I am while watching Dragonball Z or any anime really- impatient for action, analyzing the wonderfully absurd human interactions and plot. I think the 'boring' sections may actually add to the action payoff. What I hated about the 2nd and 3rd matrix movies was the 'all action all the time, none of it satisfying' but Speed Racer had a rhythm that was completely satisfying. And I usually don't like movies just because of the sfx but ... damn, the ice cave. The ice cave!! And the psychadelic color-orgasm ending, wow. I loved Speed Racer.
