Back In The Saddle Again
Published by Lisa Kansas May 11th, 2008 in Punkass!, Entertainment, Gaming, World of WarcraftI took a long hiatus from WoW (that’s World of Warcraft for all you noobs) partly due to an extended period of crazy business travel and partly due to trying to buy a house amidst all that chaos…but I’m ba-aaaack!
Unfortunately while I was away, my account went inactive and I have not been able to reactivate it so I lost my previous ladies. THAT was painful. I was in possession of two of the coolest kick-ASS chicks in the Realms…and now they’re gone. (sniffle. sob!) But I have begun again! For the similarly obsessed or masochistic, pictures and brief descriptions below the fold.
This is Aogail, which means “Death’s head” in old Welsh (at least, that’s what the book I got it from says). She is a human paladin–humans are one of the Alliance races, along with dwarves, gnomes, night elves and draenai, and “paladins” are something along the lines of Knights Templar. Paladins rock because they have the armor and weapons selection of the standard warrior profession but they can also, get this, heal themselves. This ability cannot be prized too highly in the dangerous locales of WoW. She is shown in the elven forest of Nightsong on the continent of Kalimdor, wearing the green iron armor she made herself and bearskin boots and gauntlets, and carrying the dread hammer that she won as part of her proving quest as a paladin. She is a mid-level character (the maximum possible character level is 70 and she is level 35).
This is Adelyie, which has no meaning other than it was a cool-looking modification of one of the names the “random character name generator” in the game came up with as a suggestion. She is an undead rogue–the undead are one of the Horde races, along with orcs, trolls, tauren and blood elves. “Rogues” are basically well armed (and not so well-armored) thieves, but their ability to sneak around unseen, stab enemies in the back for quadruple damage and open any number of goodie chests make it worth their weakness in a full frontal assault. She is shown in the graveyard of the undead town of Brill on the continent of the Eastern Kingdoms, wearing the hand-stitched leather armor she made herself and carrying a standard-issue undead knife (she isn’t high enough level yet to wield a knife in one hand and a shortsword in the other, but that day is coming soon). She is a low-level character (level 6).
If there are any other WoW fanatics, feel free to chime in!

Ooh! What realm are you on? My girlfriend got me into WoW and I am on my first character, level 37 blood elf warlock. \o/
zomg, what realm? my boyfriend, brother and i all play on mannoroth (70 lock, paladin, and rogue, respectively).
I’m on Drakka! Any chance you are?
ha, maybe I’ll shift a character over there!
I’m on Proudmoore, so I’ll just sit over here by myself.
I, too, have had to take a hiatus. Between school, work, and having no money, it just wasn’t worth it. I might come back this summer, though. I’ve got a lvl 40 orc warlock and a lvl 20ish troll priest on Blackdragon Flight.
