Nor do we connect a man screaming about his hatred of women and feminists to those who, every day, threaten women for actions they perceive as feminist, particularly evident in the stalking of female bloggers like Jill of Feministe and the tech blogger whose name I've forgotten.

Thanks for putting into words the one thing that troubles me about the day---we can't expect most people to connect this action to the daily misuse of women. Nor was it quite the same. I mean, he reacted out of the same sense of entitlement you get from rapists and wife-beaters, but I don't know if people grasp how mundane the entitlement is. The steps from getting your girlfriend or wife to cringe to express her opinion.....then to tiptoe around you when you're being irrationally grumpy and happy to take it out on her....to actually hitting her for insubordinance. Yeah, it's the banal stuff of everyday sexism, the stuff that's so banal we often don't recognize it as sexism.
