Bad cops get Hello Kittied

thai hello kitty

There’s really no commentary I can think to add to this story: Thai cops punished by Hello Kitty. I mean, I sort of envisioned Hello Kitty whips when I read the headline, but the idea of the Thai police force marching about with pink Sanrio armbands is even better.

“Guilty officers will be made to wear the armbands in the office for a few days, with instructions not to disclose their offences. Let people guess what they have done.”

I love it.

It could be worse; they could be Singaporean cops and be caned by a burly guy in a Hello Kitty outfit.

$10 says that product exists nonetheless.

Oh, definitely. I mean, so I’ve heard.

I think it’s simply because Thailand is notorious for being a macho country, and Hello Kitty is the epitome of pink cutesy, girly, or, since Thailand has a huge gay community, it rips of the stereotype that every gay man is a drag queen Frank N. Furter type. Sexism, homophobia, and sheer stupidity all in one! (Though if they sell those armbands in the US, I’m SO buying one.)
