This whole situation makes my blood pressure rise, but at least I can take comfort in the fact that neither Baucus nor Tester voted for it.

Somehow, the things the Ministry of Peace seems to emphasize the most as something to fear always seem to be the things the Serious Thinkers want most to actually happen.

The exaggerated, fictional, terror-pr0n, TV show 24 reveals the innermost longings of a certain set of terrified-but-posturing-as-macho authoritarian cultists in American society.

The one thing from 24 that seems to get lost in all the admiration for torture and the lone-hero-as-virtuous-weapon-of-vengeance plot points is a theme that has appeared in several seasons: The powers-that-be know an attack of some sort is imminent because they've helped it occur for their own selfish/"patriotic"/cynical reasons.

The mental diseases of the authoritarian Riechwing can't be helped. But when the only other political party in America big enough to stand up to the lunacy folds like a house of cards - THAT's sickening.

It all makes me wonder if the Americans who used to live in this nation got swapped out the evening of 9/11/2001 for a set of whimpering, authority-worshiping sheep who secretly enjoy in sleeping in their own fear-induced puddles of urine every night.

What the hell happened to the country I was born and raised in, and how do we get it back, goddmmit!?!?!...
