File under “shocking, the opposite of:” the President rejected Congress’s subpoena for documents related to the firing of federal prosecutors.

According to our sources at the Capitol, Bush’s response contained only the following homage to PAB:

Or it felt that way, anyhow.

In an earlier attempt to beg out of Congressional oversight, Cheney denied that the office of the VP is part of the executive branch, disregarding the 6 mentions of the Vice President in Article II of the Constitution. That’s the one about the Executive Branch. The gambit went so badly that even Jonah Goldberg’s questioning his totalitarian hard-on for the guy.

Improbably, Cheney actually refused to stay the course:

Officials working for Cheney had tried to claim he is separate from the executive branch, but they will no longer pursue that defense, senior administration officials tell The Politico.

Don’t get too excited, though. It was only because he realized he might get his allowance cut off:

The decision follows a threat by Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), the No. 3 House Democrat, to try to cut off the office’s $4.8 million in executive-branch funding, and a letter from Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) asking for the reasoning behind the argument.

Left with no other legal (or rather, “legal”) way to refuse Congress’s demands, the preznit’s slammed down his final domino while exclaiming “executive privilege, bitchez!

The problem is that nobody else is playing by his rules any longer. In response to Bush’s rebuff, Leahy invoked the N word — no, not that one, thank god, but this one: Nixon. And the only reason you’d drop that word is to cast the shadow of the even nastier one synonymous with it: iPhone. Errr, iMpeachment.

This is a good sign. Vertebrae by vertebrae, Congress is building the spine it needs to stand upright and best our presidential nemesis with the mighty q-tip of justice:

Fight on, American Gladiators. Fight on.

    “IMPEEEEEEEEEAAAAACH!!!”

I agree, and I don’t care if the final verdict is handed down on Jan 19th, 2009…

A tone of intolerance toward REAL lawbreaking, REAL corruption, and REAL political manipulation must be set. Americans must hold their “leaders” accountable…
