Boy, I sure do.

Today we launched a website I redesigned for a really fantastic client, and a big announcement was sent to all their contacts asking them to come check out the exciting new content.

If you visited in Safari or Firefox on the Mac or Firefox on the PC, you had a blast. If you showed up in IE7, you probably thought you had double vision. And the only reason it happened is that I failed to double check my final set of style changes in IE7. Which ANYBODY knows I obviously shoulda done.

Let’s just say “I feel badly” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Sigh.

Anybody else step in it today?

Not yet, but the (work) day isn’t over for another 45mins…

I was really surprised by the number of changes/differences/problems just between IE6 and IE7. And, of course, CSS support differences between Mozilla-based browsers like FireFox/Netscape and IE are legend. (Luckily, I don’t have to mess with Safari…)

Marc, I feel and understand your pain…
    :)

Quite the contrary - I’m the only one in my group of students who didn’t start the summer off by fucking up royally. I look great!

yeah, but not that badly - or at least, I managed to keep the client happily ignorant :/

I ain’t stepped in it yet, but the day is still young. I feel as though I’m about to step in something - I’m just not sure where. I think a beer could facilitate the stepping and alleviate the anxiety at the same time.

My radio show is tonight, so I figure I’ll be stepping in something then.

hey marc, have you checked out browsercam.com? it’s this thing where you give it your website address (we use it on our development pages at my company) and it displays what it would look like in different browsers and screen resolutions and OSes all on one page. it costs money, but our designers swear by it - you can even put in multiple pages in a list and it saves them, so you can switch from project to project easily.

anyway, thought it might be helpful for you :)

I got a publication back from the printer this week — I’d proofread it, the committee of people who wanted this newsletter proofread it (all six of them!!!!!!) and I got anxious at the very end and had my friend proofread it and then I went through it one more time. Came back from the printer, and all 500 copies had, in place of the fax number, the dept. chair’s personal phone number.

This is why I mostly work online anymore; I can’t stand that kind of anxiety and humiliation.
