Happy New Year is just a slippery slope to chaos
Published by Kyso Kisaen January 1st, 2007 in Punkass! When, oh, when, will we heed the warnings of the French?
Hundreds of protesters in France have rung in the New Year by holding a light-hearted march against it.
Parodying the French readiness to say “non”, the demonstrators in the western city of Nantes waved banners reading: “No to 2007″ and “Now is better!”
The second best part about this article is how careful the BBC was to let you know, hey, they’re just kidding. It’s funny.
The best part?
The tension mounted as the minutes ticked away towards midnight - but the arrival of 2007 did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm.
The protesters began to chant: “No to 2008!”
That’s so funny. I want to be friends with these people.
Man, I wish I had thought of that.
Well, seeing how bad 2006 was, 2007 couldn’t be much worse. What would have been cool is if they had some counter-protesters with signs saying “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
That reminds me of the Mr. Show “Blow up the Moon” protest with Sarah Silverman: “We’re Earthling! Let’s blow up Earth things!”
The day I start taking heed of the French, cheese eating comic geniuses that they are, is the day I subscribe to Italian style politics.
For real. I mean, when you hit up the Roquefort, you lose that quintessential American ability to completely miss any satirical point that may be made. And that just equates you to a guido.
That was the most random slam I’ve ever seen.
