Inconvenient, indeed

The National Science Teachers Association would love to tell you why they’re more than willing to show a video called “Fuel-less: You Can’t Be Cool Without Fuel” to millions of kids while quickly rejecting a donation of 50,000 copies of An Inconvenient Truth, but it’s hard to talk when you’ve got a mouthful of greasy, sweaty oil-company ballsack.

What the hell does the National Science Teachers Association do with the blood money?

    Cocktail weenies and champagne?…

    Party like it’s 1959?…

Wow, “Fuel-less” is one craptastic science class timekiller. Seriously, watch it. It’s god fucking awful.

If your brain is working on any level after the dance sequence*, there’s probably some good discussion in there that the oil companies wouldn’t want you to have, but that is one painful dance sequence.

“So oil is like, natural?” “Exactly, like diamonds.” Jesus god.

    *Really.

    Such a way with words….

Well, I sat through that video (thanks to Kyso calling it a craptastic timekiller). I can even see why they were attempting the valley girl style dialogue. I couldn’t help wondering why she was allowed a machine-made sack yet didn’t appear to have any cotton or woollen clothing though.

Some interesting glossings over though. I spent most of the video thinking how easy it would be to make a point about our over-reliance on a finite resource. But it turns out “oil’s not going to run out any time soon”. Fine, if you define soon as within a couple of decades, don’t care what happens after that, and think all the other consequences of oil use can be prevented by recycling your old motor oil.

Oh, and I fast-forwarded the dance sequence because I could feel my brain melting.

You guys watched that video, too? Heh, schweet. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the good sense to skip the dance sequence and my favourite parts have already been referenced by Kyso & Andrew.

I imdb-ed ‘Crystal’ and oddly enough, she had no real career of which to speak. I guess that’s what happens when one gets paid in blood to lie to impressionable young students … or is simply a total failure at one’s craft.
