    This is similar to the problem sex positive feminists have with exploitative gender standards: women, seemingly (false consciousness accounting for the “seemingly”) freely indulge in activities in which they’re obviously exploited. How do we reconcile the shitty patriarchal attitudes evinced in their freely chosen conduct?

    In this case, I have no problem with using social pressure to bring an end to the equally shitty patriarchal values that find their expression in the wearing of veils.

    Ban ‘em already.
