Cat wingnut, dog moonbat?

Poputonian at digby’s said it, not me:

By the way, have you ever noticed that cats are like conservatives — narcissistic, self-serving, aloof, and pissy — while dogs are like liberals — loyal, engaging, altruistic, and eager to please? Just askin’.

Interesting… Dennis Prager, I believe, wrote a column about this a while back, but he came to the opposite conclusion. I’ll try and dig it up, it’s funny.

Pretty damn shallow analysis. I’ve known cats who guarded small children and went looking for help when someone was in distress, and dogs who treated everyone in the house as hostile competition for resources. Dogs whose “affection” lasted just as long as you held out from giving them your last bit of steak sub, and then wanted nothing to do with you unless/until you got something else to eat, and cats who couldn’t sleep until they were within as close a radius to your chair as possible, just wanting to be near their human while she worked. Aloof, apathetic dogs and pushily affectionate and playful cats who insisted it was ALWAYS time for another game of chase-the-ball…

Isn’t ignoring facts in favor of truthiness and ideology supposed to be a *conservative* trick?

Heh, there was a cartoon awhile ago that said that liberals were cats and conservatives were dogs. Pretty funny. After all, cats are independent-minded and dogs are stupid followers.

Dogs and cats both will probably steal your damn sushi.

Well, I think they’re both above politics. Cute little kitties especially.

Anyway, the point is, conservatives suck, and liberals don’t usually suck that much.

Finally, someone breaks the silence about this pressing issue. My take is that the dog-cat ideological breakdown mirrors that noted by Mr. John Stuart Mill on the prevalence of stupidity among conservatives:

“Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.”

    Or, in other words:

Not all cats are necessarily narcissistic, self-serving, aloof, and pissy. But most narcissistic, self-serving, aloof, and pissy animals are cats.

    Dogs rule.

Have you noticed that cats can figure out how to use the bathroom without any help from you, but dogs need you to be there? And also they often eat their own ezcrement?

This is what I think of when people get into the dog/cat debate.

I’m of the opinion that cats are generally either anarchists or libertarians, whereas dogs are communists or fascists.
