Let’s say I strongly dislike this celebrity couple, despite all their humanitarian activities, and my interest was piqued to see this news story criticising their oh-so-laudable choice to give birth in Namibia:
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been labelled “colonial overlords” for the treatment they received in Namibia in the weeks leading up to the birth of their daughter last month.
Namibia’s National Society For Human Rights accuses the superstar couple of “using heavy-handed and brutal tactics” to get the African country’s government to aid their desire for total privacy.
A NSHR spokesman says, “To shut down a national border so she can give birth in peace is a massive abuse of power.”
You think? Jolie and Pitt closed down a national border so they could avoid paparazzi. This is, as the human rights org says, presumably one that Jolie has worked with during her multiple trips to the country, a massive abuse of power, in part because their refusal of her entry and stay could have hedged on their continuing to receive massive amounts of money from outside donors.
Incidentally, Namibia has a high infant mortality rate and the UNDP’s 2005 Human Development Report indicated that 34.9% of the population live on $1 per day and 55.8% live on $2 per day. So kind of the Jolie-Pitt family to arrange government time and money to give birth to a baby that could have had equally private care and treatment in a country that isn’t so strapped for resources.
The new parents, along with kids Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, have been staying at the luxury resort in Namibia since April, where their personal security team and Namibian police have shielded them from paparazzi.
Last week, the Namibian government said foreign journalists wishing to cover the birth must have written permission from Pitt and Jolie to enter the country and obtain a work permit.
And so kind of them to use their brand-new daughter as a donation-seeking, money-making device. That just screams mindful parenthood.
Now don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate that someone so goth as to wear her ex-husband’s blood in a vial around her neck can wake up and realize that the world doesn’t revolve around her personal drama and teen angst. Jolie has done a lot of work and spent a lot of time giving money and raising awareness for human rights travesties around the world. I only wish that more celebrities would follow her example. Except for abusing her power in the third world by shutting down relatively powerless countries for her convenience of giving birth.

The truth is…..Angelina Jolie is a Cylon. It’s why she is so strange and why Brad Pitt is so enamored with her.
Jolie is a phoney. She wants to believe she’s some kind of savior. She travels to other countries as a goodwill ambassador…she see’s the poor, the oppressed, the hungry and the sick. Then she comes back to the US and walks around with a purse worth thousands of dollars! And don’t forget the money she spends on dermatologists, and facialists. She gets too much sun on her travels, all she has to do is drop a few thousand to have laser treatments. Can the people in the countries she visits do the same? Her children are dressed in expensive clothing (that they’ll end up growing out of). Big deal, so she gives her money to charity. She makes sure we all know about it, and she also writes it off on her income tax. There are others that give to charity, giving what little they have…including giving their time (most of us have to work to survive). Because she can give more, monetarily, and time-wise (she has her own plane), does that make her better? No. The sacrifice of giving to charity by someone barely making it,means more than someone like Jolie giving thousands or even millions of dollars.
To me, she’s dirty. There’s no sincerity. The truth will come out as it always does. What she does is for herself…be it to ease her conscience, or to gain publicity. The public believes hollywood because they worship these people. It shows how shallow we are, and how sorely lacking we are as human beings.
AJ and Pitt are rich because the public made them that way. It’s sickening how people like her are worshipped, and for what? Keep making them rich and watching their movies…what will you gain? They don’t give a crap about you. You lose the money you could have used to buy groceries or give to a charity you support.

Now she claims it was for “exhaustion”, and “a nervous breakdown.” She’s tried to cover all of this up, but I was there. I know firsthand. When it comes to psych hospitals here you can go in voluntarily, if you feel you need help, or if someone is suicidal, homocidal, etc., and will not sign in voluntarily, they can be put on an involuntary hold, which can least 72 hours, 14 days, or 30 days. I was in the hospital voluntarily. I was depressed, and I saught help. “AJ” as you so affectionately call her, was on a 72-hour involuntary hold. And yes, I agree with you that everyone needs help sometimes and should not have it held against them, but she was HOMICIDAL. Wanting to kill her husband. That is in a totally different category than say, depression, alcoholism, etc. I am not a wacko or an idiot… that is you, my dear.
