X-Men 3

Discuss.

Warning: Possible spoilers below and in the comments (comment, dammit. No more of this “I don’t feel informed enough to comment” crap), but if it is past Wednesday and you haven’t seen it yet, what the hell are you waiting for?

A poll to settle an issue I have with my roommate.

Who was the focus of this movie, Jean Grey or Wolverine?

Could they make a sequel without bringing back nearly everyone who vaporized in this one?

Would you accept a whole Xmen movie where Xavier was played by someone other than Patrick Stewart, even if it was voiced by him?

Not to bias the results, but I have a minor in mass communication (specifically electronic media) and my roommate is on crack. Just sayin’. The correct answers are Jean, no and no.

And just to make myself a little less popular…where the hell is Gambit? I’ve waited long enough.

It should have been Jean, but the film was so muddled it didn’t know what it’s focus was, much less who the protagonist should have been.

    Not a good sequel.

No. But I’d love it, since there will no doubt be a sequel (even if there shouldn’t be) if Professor X simply wasn’t around. Some of the best X-Men stories ever told (including Joss Whedon’s current run) don’t need the Prof to be good.

I’m done displaying my nerdiness for now. ;)

    1) My focus was Wolveriiiiiiine. yum. But the movie’s? Jean Grey

    2) Yes

    3) No

  3. Sami says:

Probably Jean, but she got very little screen time.

No, and the mutuants who were made normal will become mutants again because the drug is temporary (i’m guessing)

    No, and plastic surgery?

I haven’t been able to accept that Brett Ratner was selected to position his ass over the franchise and release his vision. I don’t know if I can bring myself to watch this movie ever, as I know I will immediately regret it. X2 left a world of promise and Fox delivered Ratner. Fucking Fox.

  5. Evil Bender says:

Well said, marc. Ratner is among the least capable directors ever to get a mainstream script.

Not to blogwhore, but I wrote about the moral problems with Ratner’s X-Men vision here.

Don’t worry, Marc, The movie wasn’t horrible (except for the CG and some of Beast’s makeup, and the fact that Halle Berry wouldn’t get the fuck off the screen, like ever). There’s alot of focus on Magneto, he did a lot to carry that movie. I actually kind of enjoyed it, but it didn’t feel complete at the end. If that’s where they leave it hanging, then yeah, fucking Fox. But if they have this new and interesting twist on the Pheonix saga, and they keep the same writers, then OK, let’s see where it goes. Although I wouldn’t cry if Ratner didn’t come back.
