Most reactionary parents prefer that their children abstain from sex until it’s time for grandbabies, but it turns out that, in some KY communities, they hate the idea that a teacher might’ve bonked someone, too. Especially if they can prove it.
Via Raw Story, it seems a teacher has been canned for appearing in 1 adult film 10 years ago:
A teacher in western Kentucky has been suspended and will not have her contract renewed after administrators found out she appeared in an adult movie more than a decade ago.
Tericka Dye, a science teacher and volleyball coach at Reidland High School in Paducah for the last two years, was suspended Wednesday and told she would not return to the classroom in the fall.
“Your presence in the classroom would cause a disruption to the educational process,” McCracken County Schools Superintendent Tim Heller wrote in a letter to Dye. “I fear there would be less than a serious approach to schooling by students who viewed the video or know about it.”
Tim Heller is a dolt and a prick.
As described, the administrators found out about the movie; it wasn’t bouncing around the halls at school. As such, I fail to see how it would fall into the hands of students or even be known about by them without the administration making a big goddamn deal about it. Tim Heller shouldn’t blame the students just because he can no longer control his own educational processes around Tericka Dye.
But let’s say a copy did reach the students. Let’s say they had all seen her in an adult film. Shouldn’t these Kentucky prudes be more pissy about their children viewing and disseminating porn than caring who was in it?
Tim Heller essentially confessed that he would not assist Tericka Dye in maintaining discipline in the classroom because she made this movie. He threw up his hands at the idea that these students, even the ones who just heard about the movie, could ever be made to take her class “seriously.”
No one can stop students from thinking about Tericka Dye having sex, but I refuse to believe the classroom would collapse into anarchy. In most schools, any student who says or does something sexually inappropriate gets in big trouble regardless of whether the teacher made a sex tape in the ’90s. A few quick, harsh crackdowns on the kids who have as much trouble controlling their sexual urges as Tim Heller would probably re-establish normalcy pretty quickly.
Having taught in a public high school briefly, I can imagine it would be difficult, maybe impossible, for a teacher to lecture in front of a room full of teenagers who have seen you have sex on tape. But the decision to stop teaching because of it should be up to the teacher.
I remain skeptical that many students have seen this movie. Nothing in the story indicates they have. And if that’s true, this is an outrageous mistreatment of a woman and former soldier.
Even if kids have seen the tape, though, Tericka Dye should be the one to decide how humiliated she is. The school system’s admission that they would be unable or unwilling to restore order in her classroom is inexcusable.
Oh, and someone should alert Tim Heller that the porno-women he frothes over are real, actual people. This means he’s allowed to view them as something other than sex objects, whether they teach at his schools or not. The only question now is whether he’s capable.

You don’t know the whole story. There are copies of the tape all over the school. It was a student that discovered it…of course there are copies bouncing around the halls.
It was not just one porn movie….there was a least one other one. However, only one has been discovered.
There are other extenuating circumstances, as well, but for Tericka’s sake, I won’t publish them here.
You don’t have the facts. I suspect you got all of your info from a newspaper article or TV spot. I thought bloggers were above those trappings.
Further, don’t stereotype Western KY. We don’t all have sticks up our asses. All of our teachers have sexual histories. Not all of them are on tape, however.
Use your head. If you had had a hot teacher with an accessible porn video, would you ever have taken her seriously again?
Take her serious? Maybe not, but I would have a least showed up for class! I live in Western KY and I haven’t heard anything about a second movie. I’m still trying to find out the title of the first one!

And it does appear she was in several films. I don’t think that changes my basic opinion that the school should leave it up to her to decide if she wants to try and continue, and if she does, they owe it to her to help enforce discipline in her class.
I suppose one could argue that the teacher owed it to the school to fess up that this could come out at some point. One could also argue that not admitting this past could constitute a fraudulent resume. Either point might be enough to sway you to sympathize with the firing.
For me, if she was a good teacher and wanted to continue, then unless she lied to her superiors about her past when directly asked, I would much rather see the school stand behind her. 1 movie or 20 doesn’t change that for me.
I am also from Western Kentucky at a school that Ms. Dye taught at just until two years ago and neighbors the one she just recently got fired from. Many of my friends had her as a teacher, and they also said she was one of the best teachers they had had. This was well before everyone knew about the sex tapes.
The tapes were discovered by students who were watching their father’s porn collection. The students have more fault in the issue then she does. Yes she did make the videos, and yes it was over a decade ago. She has definetly changed. She had a rough childhood. One of her main reasons for becoming a teacher was to help the children. She really did have a passion about it. Several of the teachers at my school are upset about her getting fired because of the passion she had for helping kids. In the end it was the kids that became her downfall.
From what I gather, Rikki Andersin, aka, Tericka Dye made more than one SCENE. However, those few scenes were used in several “compliation” titles with a 2 guys/1 girl theme. I viewed one of the scenes and while she does perform with 2 guys in a “dp” scene with both guys finishing on her face, she doesn’t seem all that into her work. I also read that she was in a Penthouse layout when she was still in the military and that she was quite the celeb on the base after the pictures surfaced. For what it’s worth, she looks alot different in the movie, what 10 years will do to you I guess…
On the issue of her dismissal, it’s a sad world we live in that someone would be punished for something they did 10 years ago that wasn’t illegal. My favorite is when some scum bag teacher feels up a student or worse, sleeps with them, they are usually put on administrative leave WITH PAY and things work themselves out. I imagine that she will definitely get offers to return to the adult world and make a pretty penny. Otherwise, good luck to her and her fight against the numbskulls who run the Kentucky school system.

I knew this girl when she was in the Army on her first enlistment, she entered the porn industry afterwards then re-joined the Army. She’s try to spin it that she joined after the porn tour and changed her ways. In her first tour in the Army she was trouble with a capital T and was busted at least once and was always doing extra duty as punishment. She had at least two last names then because of marriage and abandoned one of her children along with a husband who adopted and raises that child (last I heard at least). Well her name was Tericka Ringler in the Army, I believe it’s her maiden name. She married an Army engineer around 93 and changed her name to Mcadoo. Her son’s name begins with a C. Previous to that marriage I attended the memorial service for her deceased child conceived with a black guy from 3rd PSYOP BN on Ft. Bragg. She was an E4 briefly before being busted down to private for an infraction–I believe she lied about something or other–and spent several hours on extra-duty painting my detachment’s WWII era shop on Buker st. Let me begin by saying that everyone i have spoken to about Tericka Dye’s situation,(those being friends and neighbors in my western Ky community),as well as myself, do not think that she should be persecuted for discretions committed years ago. However, I do not fault the school system for taking into consideration the feelings of the students’ parents and looking further into the situation and deciding that it requires more than the opinion of one person to decide her fate. Nor do I believe that the falculty is at fault for the public notification of her involvement in porn and her subsequent humiliation.
That being said, R. Mildred is a blathering megaidiot. He/She suggests that to avoid being stereotyped as prudes, we refrain from engaging in converstions about sex. This presents me with quite a conundrum. I believe the error in Mildred’s proposed solution is obvious and needs no further explaination.
